How To Used GM’s Inflator Kit on a 2012 Camaro 2SS – First State Chevy

With fuel economy a top concern for many car buyers, GM works hard to minimize the weight of their vehicles which in turn helps improve gas mileage. One way they are doing that is by excluding the spare tire and including a 5 year / 100,000mile roadside assistance and a tire inflator kit.  It might concern some, but we think is pretty ingenius.  This inflator kit will get you back on you way much quicker than a spare unless of course you have a complete blow out, thats when the roadside assistance comes tot he rescue.  Today, we are going to take a look at how to use the inflator kit included on many new 2012 cars.  Here we demostrate on a new 2012 Chevy Camaro 2SS. Lets take a look….

GM Certified – What makes them any better than a Used Car?

Here at First State Chevrolet, we take just as much pride in our pre-owned selection of vehicles as we do our brand new Chevrolets. Why you ask? The majority of our pre-owned vehicles are GM Certified.  Many don’t know what makes a Certified vehicle better than some used car lot special. Lets go over so of the advantages…

Its easy to see that purchasing a GM Certified pre-owned vehicle can take the guess work and uncertainty out of buying pre-owned.  Right now that are opportunities to take advantage of special rates such as 1.9% for 36-months on Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR, Impala, Malibu, Silverado, Traverse and many more.

A look through Onstar’s RemoteLink app on the iPhone

One of the great new technologies available to Gm customers is the Onstar RemoteLink application for iPhones and other smart phones. The link is downloadable for free through your app store. The only thing needed is a subscription through Onstar. Luckily, every new Chevy car or truck comes with a 6 month trial of Onstar with directions and connections. This allows you 6 months of use with this application for free as well. I’m sure many saw the use of the app on Chevy Cruzes commercial last year. The husband called his wife to have her start the Chevy Cruze in the driveway as she was boarding a plane at the airport. She opened her RemoteLink app while on the plane and started the car at home while the husband and his neighbor stood watching. Many of our customers had no idea that the app works with many other vehicles in the Chevy line. I used it with my 2011 Silverado this past winter, and with the cold weather it was a life saver. Especially since the remote start on your key fob only works from 200 feet.  Lets take a look at the different screens on the app and how they give me information on my Silverado and control to start, stop, unlock and lock my truck…Here is a look at my home screen on my iPhone. Notice the icon for the RemoteLink app in the second row.Once you open the app, it refreshes the status of your Chevy from the last time the vehicle was started. Here is shows me my fuel level, remaining oil life, lifetime gas mileage, current odometer reading, and when the information was recorded.

The next screen is your remote control. Here you can signal with horn and lights, lock, unlock, remote start or cancel start. In order to do so all you need is cellphone signal.

As a security feature, the App requires you to enter your preset PIN number to control your vehicle.

If you select the last screen labeled more, you’ll find more information such as your vehicle’s VIN, your Onstar account number and more.  The app is truly user friendly, even for new smart phone users. Take advantage your vehicles remote capabilities from the classroom, your office, the supermarket or anywhere else that is too far for your key fob to work. Nitrofill – How does Nitrogen in my tires help?

Why Nitrogen? Fully inflated tires are safer, perform better, last longer and give you better gas mileage. Inflating your tires with high-purity nitrogen can help you maintain your tires recommended level of pressure 2-3 times longer than air.

Benefits:

Smoother, safer ride – Properly inflated tires allow the control you need for a safer, smoother ride. With under inflated tires, you have less contact area between tire and road surface, less braking & steering control and a greater potential for blowouts.

Fuel Mileage – By maintaining proper tire pressure, you reduce tire resistance and this creates less drag, allowing you to obtain desired fuel mileage. MONEY SAVER!

Tire Life – Some tire manufacturers claim the use of nitrogen extends the tire life by as much as 25%. Under-inflated tires wear prematurely due to uneven road contact. Because nitrogen is moisture free, the tires’ rubber will deteriorate more slowly than damp compressed air. Also, no moisture will lead to no corrosion on the wheels.

Convenience – With nitrogen filled tires, you won’t have to refill as often.
